Farasha Farmhouse is a lively retreat located on the outskirts of Marrakech, set on an energetically balanced plain nestled between two mountain ranges. Its appeal stems from a harmonious mix of creativity and craftsmanship, brought to fruition by the commitment of its talented hosts.

THE STORY

The Farasha Farmhouse, inspired by the founders' journey with Boutique Souk, merges past and present to craft a fresh vision for future events. Once home to French painter Patrice Arnaud, the property was acquired by Fred and Rosena Charmoy in 2021, who were captivated by its stunning mountain views. Named after the Moroccan word for butterfly, Farasha embodies themes of transformation.

The farmhouse saw a skilled renovation, with the atelier converted into two suites and the lower level redesigned into spacious living areas and an additional bedroom. Blending Fred and Rosena's eclectic hospitality experiences, from the Balearic Islands to Austin, it harmonizes art, music, and wellness within a Moroccan setting.

Farasha Farmhouse stands as a dynamic crossroads of hospitality and creativity, reflecting the founders' two decades of experience and offering a unique perspective for modern travellers.

SUITES

Farasha features three elegantly designed open-plan suites and one detached casita. These accommodations are connected by a tastefully furnished open-plan lounge, dining, and entertaining space that includes a bar and a show kitchen.

We stayed in their Leel suite, which features a built-in bathtub made of traditional Fez zeliges, overlooking the stunning olive yard. The vintage rooms feature a super king-size bed, wooden Beni rugs, a tea, coffee, and cocktail station, as well as a double vanity and double shower complete with organic bathroom products and underfloor heating, among other amenities.

The standout feature of our suite was the open plan layout, characterized by a beautiful arch shape that extended the entire length of the room. This design created a sense of spaciousness while still maintaining a cozy ambiance, enhanced by the warm textiles and a natural color palette.

EAT IN

Farasha offers farm-to-table dining at our bar and restaurant, serving meals throughout the day under the guidance of Executive Chef Aniss Meski from Mouton Noir. They spotlight fresh, seasonal vegetables, salads, and aromatic herbs sourced from their own farm gardens, presented in a Mediterranean family style. We absolutely loved their homemade roasted aubergine with tahini and cherry tomato confiture for lunch and incredible chocolate tart for desert. We enjoyed dining outside at a long wooden table, with olive and herbal trees surrounding us, which truly enhanced the authentic Moroccan outdoor experience.

Farasha is also open for day passes including lunch / dinners. Book a day pass here.

GARDEN & FARM

Surrounded by a sprawling olive grove, a year-round garden crafted by Marius Boulesteix—a former fashion expert transitioned into landscape architect—thrives. This organic farm produces an array of fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs, meticulously tended to by knowledgeable local farmers. Strolling along the long pathways scattered with argan nuts proves to be an enlightening experience, revealing the origins of our food. These gardens contribute significantly to our well-being, promoting not only a healthy gut but also a tranquil mind and relaxing experience.

OPEN LIVING

A key feature of Farasha is its communal living spaces, which include several lounges and an open kitchen. These areas are adorned with art and fashion books, games, and vintage collectibles. Several chimneys warm up the spaces in winter. In a warm reflection of home, Fred and Rosena Charmoy, founders from France and Ireland, have established an inviting hub for their vibrant community. They have skillfully transformed a former artist’s rural residence into a captivating showcase of Morocco’s contemporary art landscape, artisan craftsmanship, and cultural pioneers.

A FINAL NOTE

We truly enjoyed every aspect of our stay and experiences a well transformation in our state of peace. It was refreshingly rejuvenating to spend some days in the countryside, well away from the hustle and bustle of city life. We suggest a minimum stay of three nights to fully engage with the property and enjoy everything it offers. Take refreshing dips in the pool, stroll through the olive groves, explore the farm, or unwind with a good book in the open living area. Participate in a culinary workshop with chef Annis Meski, savor a candlelit dinner on the rooftop, and immerse yourself in the tranquil countryside atmosphere and breathtaking mountain views.
