Just a stone's throw from the lively souks and an abundance of restaurants, IZZA stands out as a fresh addition to modern Moroccan hospitality. It serves as a gathering spot for like-minded creative individuals, a place where diverse cultures intertwine and new friendships blossom.

CHECK-IN

Wandering through the local section of the Medina, where children play, fresh bread is baked, and men frequent the mosque, our journey to IZZA offered a glimpse into the richness of Moroccan culture. Upon passing through the doorway, we found ourselves in a beautifully designed living space that blends traditional and modern elements. Art books showcased the area's creativity, while stunning photography and artwork adorned the walls. The interior was an inviting mix of vibrant materials and textures. As we were warmly welcomed with a refreshing drink and true Moroccan hospitality, we were guided to one of their 14 uniquely designed rooms.

SUITES

IZZA consists of fourteen exquisite designed rooms that took their names of icons from Morocco’'s counter-cultural past. With its adventurous spirit, no two rooms are the alike but share a deep fascination of the Moroccan culture and traditions.

Our personal favourite was the Yves, named after most influential fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent. It is their second largest room with a corner sofa site, vintage study desk, Juliet balcony overlooking the pool arch, build in wardrobes, coffee corner, tadelakt bath and underfloor heating. Extra room amenities are their luxury cotton bed linens, bathrobes and slippers and specially formulated complimentary toiletries giving you an extra feel of luxe. The IZZA suite and YVES suite offer exclusive access to a private terrace featuring a plunge pool and day beds on the rooftop. This space is perfect for unwinding after a warm day in the vibrant Medina.

EAT IN

An outstanding modern Moroccan kitchen is presented on IZZA's rooftop, named Noujoum. Offering lunch and dinner menus that consist of small plates ideal for sharing and focused on local, seasonal produce. With spices from the souk, combining traditional cooking methods with an European Mediterranean flair, their food is to us, one of the best in the town. We went for their beef carpaccio with truffled artichoke and grilled octopus with a cannellini bean salad on repeat finished with one of their amazing chocolate deserts. Their breakfast offerings are exceptional and a significant reason for our enjoyment during our stay.

Savouring their cuisine truly delights the palate. We also recommend when not staying at IZZA to book a night out dinner here. Book a table here.

COURTYARDS & SPACES

With a wide range of courtyards, swimmingpool, a library, Bill's bar, tea salon, cafe, restaurant, fitness centre, plunge pools, a spa and hammam, IZZA outdid themselves with their communal spaces offering both solitude and opportunities to socialise. We loved to hang out on their secluded rooftop overviewing the city including a long dinner and chat with the lovely staff.

IN-HOUSE ART

A central aspect of IZZA's identity is its role as the host of the Museum in the Medina, which features a global art collection comprising over 300 pieces of contemporary and digital art. This collection includes large-scale photographs from Leila Alaoui's acclaimed ‘Les Marocains’ series, contemporary works by Mouhcine Rahaoui, and innovative A.I creations by Reefik Andol. This vibrant array of art imbues the riad with an entrepreneurial spirit that fosters meaningful conversations.

A FINAL NOTE

Our stay was both tranquil and intriguing. With opportunities for peaceful relaxation alongside engaging discussions, this destination serves as a prime gathering spot for creative entrepreneurs who enjoy reminiscing together. From lively chats and drinks at the bar to extended shared dinners, as well as soothing massages and tea sessions in the calmer corners, IZZA offers the ideal ambiance for all these experiences.
