ROOMS: 20 | SERVICE: GREAT | LOCATION: URBAN ATHENS | AMENITIES: ROOFTOP BAR & TERRACE AND ART GALLERY

Mona embodies a fresh approach to the concept-driven boutique hotel and multi-disciplinary space. Housed in an eight-story industrial factory from the 1950s, it offers 20 distinctive rooms, a concept cafe lounge and bar, along with a speakeasy venue located in the basement.

THE MANIFESTO

Athens is my canvas, my stage, my amusement park; the lover I come back to for more. We share the same curiosity, looking inward to see outward, revealing layers of color, texture, of raw truth. Urban and country, modern and primal, merged into one form of elegant complexity. A climate of chaos wrapped in rocker chic – loyal to the artist in values, visions and aesthetics.

Staying up all night to the rhythm of fresh beats to salute the sun each morning. Expressing at full volume, greatness in passion. Eating what excites and drinking from the top. Discovering hidden gardens, old terrazzo floors, layers of history awaiting a revival – to be touched by creative madness and renewed by sensual wonders.

I choose to live life as an out-of-body experience; as a curated discovery of unexplored sensations and uncharted spaces. I’m Mona; a movement; a homage to the art of living. Sanctuary for the wild at heart. My force is contagious, and my song will soon be on your lips. Come, take my hand, and jump in.

SUITES

Mona's open-plan rooms welcome you into a realm of sophisticated luxury and spacious comfort. Infused with a sense of drama, the industrial backdrops transform into exquisite settings alongside original artworks and bespoke furniture. Each room is illuminated by custom lighting and natural Athenian sunlight. Their signature curtains exude a unique ambiance, adding sensual layers to both the open bathroom and bedrooms.

The rooms are filled with unexpected treasures & necessities. Understanding that you may wish to carry a piece of Mona's charm with you, all items are available for purchase—from the furniture and organic cotton linens to the vibrant plants and artisanal carpets.

MONA'S LIVING ROOM

Mona’s living room captivates with its unique multi-level design, high ceilings, and industrial accents. A collection of intriguing design pieces and custom ceramics harmonize with the decor, enveloping you in aesthetic appeal. This is also the space where coffee and breakfast is served all morning for those staying in the hotel. We got served a delicious mezzo plate, scrambled eggs and for the sweet tooth among us a French toast with an incredible homemade chutney.

The ground floor is designed to be both a collaborative workspace and a laptop-friendly area, making it a perfect spot for productivity. Its inviting atmosphere fosters inspiration and is suitable for a variety of events. The cafe features an open-plan kitchen, serving as a creative hub for talented chefs who frequently team up to produce exciting culinary experiences.

ROOFTOP

Nestled among urban landscapes with a private view of the Acropolis, Mona's rooftop is a hidden gem. We loved laying here, sipping on a refreshing drink after a day strolling in the city. In the warmer months, this rooftop transforms into CLUB MONAmour, hosting a series of pop-up social gatherings.

THE AREA

Mona is situated in Psirri, known as Athens’ most lively district. The genuine, unconventional, and cultural essence of the area traces back to the early 20th century, a time when working-class outlaws and Asia Minor refugees, referred to as “Manges” and “Rebetes,” coexisted, often expressing their experiences through songs about loss and unreciprocated love.

A FINAL NOTE

What we appreciated most about Mona is undoubtedly its remarkable interior design, having been transformed from a former textile factory. The layers of wall paint, stripped back over time, create a visual narrative that feels like art in itself. This setting provides an immersive experience that evokes the story and emotions of the 1950s. We would choose to stay here whenever we have a layover to the Greek islands or for a multi-day city trip to unwind and embrace the charm of this intimate retreat.
